Our students showcase is held at The Hopgood Theatre on Saturday 26th November 2022. Dress rehearsal is Friday 25th November 2022. Please note that all students must participate in the dress rehearsal in order to perform in the showcase. There are no exceptions to this policy.
The showcase offers our students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to their families and friends the results of a year’s hard work, dedication, and progress.
A big part of dance training includes learning through performance. Although performance opportunities can help prepare some students for a possible career in dance, they also contribute to children’s success in non-dance activities. The experience helps build self-esteem and confidence, which can result in better in-school presentations and improved social skills. The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps the children develop retention skills, and by working with their classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of working as a team to create the best end result.
Showcase Handbook
In September/October of each year, we distribute a showcase handbook with all the information parents and students need to know to make the showcase experience enjoyable for all.
Costumes
We spend many hours determining the correct costumes for each class and they are always age appropriate. Students are measured by the director and costume assistants so we can order accurate sizes. All measurements are kept confidential.
Students will need 1 costume for each dance they are in at the concert. Parents will receive an invoice upon enrolling at the studio. This invoice is a deposit for costumes. This invoice will need to be paid by the end of term 1 so we have a float to start purchasing costumes. Once the costumes have been purchased you will receive either an invoice or a statement so you can see where your money has been spent. Most costumes will come to you ready made but some will require you or a dress maker to add trimmings or final touches. If you require a dressmaker we can arrange this through the studio but there will be an additional fee for this service.
Parents or guardians accept full responsibility for all expenses, including surcharges and postage for costumes that are ordered. Dance Xplosion is not responsible if costumes are not received in time for the showcase due to late payments. Costume payments are the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian.
Volunteers
For our concert and rehearsals to run smoothly, we do require parents to assist back stage. A current working with children check is required.
Showcase Tickets
Tickets for the showcase will go on sale once all volunteer positions have been allocated. Tickets are available from the Hopgood Theatre Adults $30.00 Consession $22.00. Children age 2 and under can sit on an adults lap for free.
