Jayne Spencer is the Dance Director at Dance Xplosion and her love and passion for dance has spanned over 45 years. Starting dancing at the age of 8, dance has always been a big part of Jayne's life. Jayne's mission is to provide a dance studio for all abilities and ages believing that every child should have the opportunity to learn to dance. Her passion for teaching started at a young age and she has been very proud to see students go onto professional careers as performers or teachers'. Jayne has an extensive knowledge of exams and competitions in all genres of dance and finds it rewarding passing on that knowledge and her passion to her students. Jayne continues to update her knowledge and skills by participating in development courses, student and teacher workshops and business workshops.
Krysten studied Classical Ballet with Sheila Laing in Adelaide, where she gained her Royal Academy of Dance, Solo Seal. In 1984, Krysten travelled to London where she was a finalist in the Adeline Genee Awards. She also attended the Central School of Ballet in London. Krysten is a qualified Royal Academy of Dance Teacher and continues to update her knowledge and skills by participating in development courses and student and teacher workshops. Her passion is to in still an enjoyment and love of ballet to others. Krysten has been committed to Dance Xplosion and it's students for 15 years and is a loved and valuable member of our team
Gemma was one of Jayne's students from the age of 2 and has studied all genres of dance. Gemma has many accomplishments in state dancing competitions winning the 2007 Junior Tap Championship, 2009 & 2010 Senior Tap Championship, 2007 Junior Theatrical Championship winning a scholarship to Dance World Studios Vic & 2009 Senior Theatrical Championship also winning a scholarship to Dance World Studios Vic. Gemma still loves performing and is a performer at Adelaide events. Gemma teach's modern jazz, hip hop and cheerleading. Gemma's love of dance shows in all her choreography and her dream is to instill a love of dance in all her students.
Kelly began her dancing career with Jayne at the age of 5. Her love and passion for dance has allowed her to compete in local competitions in troupes, solo's and duo's. Kelly is currently studying modern jazz, tap dancing, hip hop and classical ballet whilst also undertaking exams in modern jazz, tap and classical ballet. Kelly has completed up to grade 8 in RAD classical ballet exams, up to and including grade 6 in modern jazz exams and is currently studying her gold star tap exam. Kelly's gentle and caring nature and patient demeanor allow her to work cooperatively & successfully with students of all ages. Kelly hopes to continue to show her passion for dance by inspiring others to fulfill their potential
Alicia began dancing in 2008 with Jayne, training in many genres of dance such as; tap dancing, modern jazz, classical ballet and hip hop. Alicia also competes with the competition team, performing solos and troupe work. After Alicia's first few years of dance she decided she wanted to be a dance teacher herself and has continued to be persistent and determined towards these goals. Alicia has completed up to grade 8 in RAD classical ballet exams and is now training at inter foundation levels and has completed up to and including grade 7 in CSTD modern jazz exams in hopes to one day be a fully qualified teacher. Alicia hopes to inspire and motivate students to be the best they can be, as Alicia's teachers did for her.
Shondra started her dance training at the age of 4 with the Shelley Wright dancers and then went on to study classical ballet with Sheila Laing. In 1987, Shondra auditioned for and became a member of the Australian drill team where she performed for the bi-centennial parade, the Australian formula one opening and the mayor's ball in 1988. Also in that year, the Australian drill team travelled to Nagoya, Japan for international competition, where the team went on to win and retain it's world championship title. In 1990, Shondra travelled with the team and performed at the Edinburgh military tattoo, a highlight of her career. Shondra has also performed as a cheerleader with the Adelaide 36ers. Shondra has a passion for dance and her professional opportunities have given her a wealth of experience and knowledge to pass on to her students.
Naomi started dancing before she could walk at 1 and has never stopped since. At the age of 9 she new that dance was her career and decided to take classes in professional ballet where she danced 6 days a week. Noami's background has mainly been classical ballet, however found her love of street jazz and hip hop in 2010 when studying at college. On moving to Adelaide from Glasgow Scotland in 2013, she studied dance at Gravity and was met with a whole bunch of amazing opportunities such as being a dancer for Ding, Ryan Turner (ADM), travelling interstate to perform and being a dance for the South Adelaide football club. Naomi taught for Dance Xplosion in 2017 before taking a fulltime position teaching in Port Pirie. Naomi is now returning to Adelaide and is excited to be back at Dance Xplosion teaching street jazz, hip hop and contemporary, and with Naomi's new skills and knowledge in acrobatics, we are now pleased to be once again offering this genre.

Samantha France - Assistant Teacher
Samantha has been dancing at Dance Xplosion for 15 years starting at the age of 6. Her love and enjoyment for dance has allowed her to compete in competitions as a troupe member and participates in modern jazz, tap dancing and hip hop. Her love of children and dance has allowed her to assist teacher's in their classes and be a part of the Ready Set Dance team. Samantha loves assisting students as this let's her help the new generation of student's to find their own passion for dance and to achieve their dreams but also create bonds with each student that comes through the studio.
Tanayah McLay - Student Teacher
Tanayah has been dancing at Dance Xplosion for 11 years starting at the age of 3 years. She has studied all genres over this time but she is focusing on her classical ballet, modern jazz and tap dancing classes and exams to become a qualified teacher. Tanayah is a very accomplished and successful student participating and winning tap dancing championships, classical scholarships and adjudicators awards. Tanayah is committed to furthering her knowledge and skills by attending many school holiday workshops and programmes both here in South Australia and interstate. This will be Tanayah's first year as a student teacher and with her friendly and caring nature, she will be a great asset to the studio and it's students.
Arielle Coat - Student Teacher
Arielle has been dancing at Dance Xplosion for 10 years, starting at the age of 3 and is a committed member of the studio. She has won a variety of awards from the 2011 under 5 good work award to the 2019 student of the year runner-up award. She studies modern jazz, tap dancing, classical ballet and contemporary. Arielle's love and passion has led her to compete in troupes, solo's and duo's in many competitions. She will be extending her dance studies through the dance program at school and interstate workshops. This will be Arielle's first year as a student teacher and she is committed to working hard to improve her skills and abilities and looks forward to sharing that knowledge with the students.
Nicole Altschwager - Administration
Nicole is new to our Dance Xplosion team this year. Nicole has worked in child care for the past six and a half years, however, after taking time off for maternity leave, she has been looking forward to rejoining the work force in an administration role and has gained her certificate in health administration. Nicole loves interacting and making connections with children and their families and with her has a warm and friendly demeanour is looking forward to her role at Dance Xplosion and supporting you with any enquires you may have.
